MVB: Three Lasers Recognized in GNAC Weekly Awards
Newton, MA- The Lasers took home three of the four weekly GNAC awards after an impressive 3-0 week.
Senior Theo Zaharewicz was in charge of the Lasers attack in a 3-0 week in conference play for Lasell as the Bethany, Conn. native totaled 49 kills (4.45 kills per set) on a .364% attack percentage while chipping in 19 digs (1.73 digs per set) defensively. Zaharewicz registered 14 kills apiece in two sweeps over Regis and Dean before notching a double-double in a five-set thriller in which the senior collected 21 kills and 12 digs to lift the Lasers over Rivier. The league-leader in total kills (295), Zaharewicz also places 12th currently on the DIII leaderboards nationally.
Junior Teddy Teraszkiewicz did a solid duty defensively for the Lasers as the Newtown, Conn. native collected 22 digs on the week (2.2 digs per set) along with 21 kills (2.1 kills per set) to help Lasell to an undefeated week. Teraszkiewicz started strong against Regis with 10 kills and five digs in a sweep over Regis before collecting a double-double of 11 kills and 17 digs in a huge win over Rivier.
First-Year Trystan Maloney delivered for the Lasers in two match appearances this week as the Colorado Springs, Co. native totaled 68 assists (8.50 a/s) and 14 digs (1.75 d/s). Maloney had 21 in a sweep over Regis before notching a 47 assist, 11 dig double-double in their five set win over Rivier. The freshman is first in the GNAC in assists per set with 9.15 (21st in DIII) and second in total assists with 595 (28th in DIII).
