MVB: Mesnik and Maloney Post Weekly GNAC Honors
Newton, MA- Despite a 1-2 record on the week, freshman Trystan Maloney and Ryan Mesnik both posted weekly GNAC honors.
Junior libero Ryan Mesnik had a strong defensive week for the Lasers, averaging 3.25 digs per set (39 total digs) across three matches for Lasell. The Fullerton, Calif. native had 17 digs in a win over No. 20 MIT and 15 digs in a match over No. 18 Misericordia. Mesnik followed up against No. 3 ranked Vassar with seven digs.
First-year setter Trystan Maloney showcased his strong ability to set up his teammates as the Colorado Springs, Colorado native put up 103 assists in 11 sets (9.4 a/s), collecting a season-high 52 in a home win over No. 20 MIT before following up with 45 in a tri-match vs. no. 18 Misericordia and six in two sets against no. 3 Vassar. Maloney also collected 29 digs, averaging 2.6 digs per set. He is currently the conference leader in both assists/assists per set which play him both in the top 15 nationally in DIII.
