NEWTON, Mass. – A senior on the Lasell College men's volleyball team was honored Monday by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for his performance in a Laser victory last week.
Senior Jordan Aprea (Newington, Conn./Newington) was named GNAC Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. He played a key role in helping Lasell win its only match last week, and 3-1 GNAC victory over Emerson College.
A 5-11 defensive specialist, Aprea recorded a career-high 31 digs (7.75 per set) in the victory over Emerson. His previous career-best was 23 digs in a five-set victory over Wentworth last April.
A two-time All-GNAC selection, Aprea leads the conference with 107 digs this season and ranks third with 3.06 digs per set. Aprea also plays outside hitter for the Lasers and ranks second on the team with 49 kills and 1.40 kills per set.
The Lasers, 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the GNAC, is back on the court this Friday, February 22, with a non-conference match at Newbury College (7 p.m.)
