Rogers, Smith, & Williams Notch Weekly Awards

Three Lasers were selected to receive GNAC weekly awards this week. Once again, Javon Williams (Mattapan, Mass.) was honored as Rookie of the Week for men's basketball, while Dave Rogers (Belchertown, Mass.) was chosen as Player of the Week in Men's Volleyball, and Zack Smith (Agawam, Mass.) was men's volleyball Rookie of the Week.  Both Rogers and Smith are being honored for the first time by the GNAC this season.

Williams (left) averaged 7 points, 11 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2 steals in the GNAC tournament game for the Lasers. In the semifinals against Emmanuel he had 9 points and 12 rebounds, including 6 second chance offensive rebounds, adding 4 assists and a block.  Against Norwich, Williams had five points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Rogers (far right) led Lasell to an impressive 4-0 week, including winning the Bard Tournament Most Outstanding Player award after leading the Lasers to the tournament Championship Title with 2.89 kills and 2.77 digs per game in the 3 match tournament. Throughout the week Rogers hit 35%, averaged 2.44 digs and 2.89 kills per set.

Smith (inset right) had 40 assists and 4 digs against Purchase College in the Bard Invitational, as well as 27 assists and 3 digs against Bard to helping the Lasers to a 3-0 weekend.  He was named to the All-Tournament Team and averaged 8 assists per set for the Lasers over the 4-0 week.
