T&F: Candelaria and Ruch Earn Weekly GNAC Honors

Newton, MA- The Lasers opened up the outdoor track and field season in style, sweeping a pair of GNAC weekly awards following a strong showing at Gordon's Jon Tymann Invitational.

Sophomore Cameren Candelaria delivered a standout performance, winning both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. His 11.27 in the 100 ranks as the top time in the GNAC, while his 22.79 in the 200 marked an outdoor personal best and sits second in the conference, earning him GNAC Track Athlete of the Week honors.

Freshman Caleb Ruch impressed in the middle-distance events, recording the GNAC's fastest 800-meter time this season at 2:04.22 while also ranking second in the 1500-meter at 4:14.84. He placed fourth overall in the 800 and second overall in the 1500 at the meet, earning GNAC Rookie of the Week recognition.
