Michael Haynes

Michael Haynes is now in his fourth season at the helm of Lasell men's soccer in 2019. After taking over prior to the 2016 season, Coach Haynes has improved the team's record the past two seasons while making steady progress in rebuilding the Lasers into a solid contender in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Haynes joined the Lasell staff after spending 10 years as the boys’ varsity soccer head coach at Matignon High School in Cambridge, Mass.  Haynes led the Warriors to three Catholic Central League Championship titles in ‘08, ‘11, and ‘12. Prior to his stint with the Warriors, Haynes was the head boys coach at Beaver Country Day School from ‘97-‘05, where he steered the Beavers to four New England Prep School Athletic Conference Championships, nine league titles, and three unbeaten seasons. In 2000, he was voted NSCAA Coach of the Year for Prep Schools. In 2013, Haynes was inducted into the Beaver Country Day School Hall of Fame.

A native of West Indies, Barbados, Haynes has a wealth of both playing and coaching experience. He was a player on the Barbados National Team in ’71, and made a solid impact in the following years as a five-year member of the Boston Internationals in the Mass Soccer League. Amidst his time with the Internationals, Haynes was also selected to the First Mass Olympic Development Team.

Haynes jumped into the realm of collegiate coaching in 1995-96, serving as the Emerson College men’s soccer assistant when the Lions competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Haynes is a ’70 graduate of Dale Carnegie Institute, and completed his N.E.S. of Mechanical Dentistry in ’73. Haynes and his family currently reside in Medford, Mass.
