Newton, MA – The Lasell University men's soccer team earned a convincing 3-1 victory over New England College on Tuesday evening.
The Lasers' offense was firing on all cylinders, while the back line stayed locked in, allowing them to control much of the match from the opening whistle in a high-intensity battle.
Lasell wasted no time getting on the board, striking just four minutes in. Emilio Magdon flicked the ball upfield to Daniel Faynstein, who finished strong to give the Lasers an early 1-0 lead. The Pilgrims responded midway through the first half, converting off a corner kick to even the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.
Just two minutes into the second half, the Lasers earned a penalty kick. Magdon stepped up and buried it into the left corner to put Lasell back in front, 2-1. With momentum on their side, the Lasers continued to apply pressure. In the 78th minute, Antonio Calabrese delivered the knockout goal off a perfectly placed pass from Faynstein, sealing the 3-1 victory.
Up Next: Lasell returns home to face Norwich on Saturday, September 27, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
