Newton, MA- Lasell University men's soccer dropped a 2–0 decision at home to Nichols College on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. Despite a solid offensive push and a strong showing from goalkeeper Reed Brown, the Lasers couldn't find the back of the net and fell to 2-4-1 (0-0-1 GNAC) on the season.
Nichols got on the board early in the 14th minute when William Pugliese-Savage converted a pass from Carl Headges-Small, giving the Bison a 1–0 lead. Lasell held them scoreless for the next 70+ minutes and created multiple chances of their own, but couldn't beat Nichols keeper Derek Axon, who made seven saves in the shutout.
The Lasers generated 11 total shots — including seven on goal — led by Dino Celikovic, who recorded four shots, all on target. Ryan Dinoff, Daniel Faynstein, and Sam Goncalves also each tallied shots on goal. Lasell's best scoring opportunities came in the second half, including a late push with three corner kicks and five shots, but Axon and the Bison defense held firm.
Nichols sealed the game in the 87th minute with a goal from Carl Headges-Small, assisted by Lukas Salvador, to make it 2–0.
Reed Brown made five saves for Lasell, playing the full 90 minutes in net. Defensively, the Lasers were disciplined, conceding fewer fouls in the second half and absorbing pressure well.
Up Next: The Lasers will look to regroup this coming weekend, with a pivotal conference matchup against Saint Joseph's College (ME).
