PAXTON, Mass. – Sophomore Kevin Pitt (Bayshore, N.Y.) scored the only goal of the game Saturday afternoon as Lasell College edged Anna Maria College, 1-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match-up at AMCAT Field.
Lasell posted its first conference win of the season, improving to 2-5-2 overall and 1-4-2 in the GNAC, while Anna Maria drops to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Pitt connected on his first goal of the season just four minutes into the game on a spin move. That ended up as the only scoring in the game, despite the Lasers out-shooting the Amcats 11-5 in the first half and 11-1 in the second half.
Lasell junior keeper Jackson Burhans (Berlin, N.Y.) needed to make just two saves to record his first career shutout. Sophomore Jeffre Donahue (Rockland, Mass) made 11 saves for the home team.
The Lasers return home to host the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Taylor Field. Anna Maria's next game will come at home on Wednesday against conference opponent Rivier University at 4 p.m.
