Dan Hatch Named GNAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year
NEWTON, MA- First team All-Conference honoree Dan Hatch (Avon, MA) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
Lasell College's senior forward Dan Hatch (Avon, MA) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year.
Hatch is made ranks on the GNAC All-Conference team for the third time in his three years with Lasell. This is also the second consecutive year that Hatch has been selected for first team honors. The senior forward leads Lasell in points and goals this season with 23 and 10 respectively, and has chipped in with one helper this season.
Three of Hatch's goals this season were game-winners, against Farmingdale State, Mount Ida, and Johnson & Wales, which complied into a career total of 10 game-winners, setting a new career record at Lasell. He was selected as Player of the Week once this season by the GNAC and is ranked in seven statistical categories within the league. Hatch is also ranked nationally at 52nd in total goals (10), 77th in goals per game (.61), 113th in total points (23), and 152nd in points per game (1.28).
After transferring into Lasell in 2008, Hatch had an immediate impact on the men's soccer program, becoming the team's leading scorer during that season and setting four single-game and season records during that initial year. Hatch finished his sophomore year with 31 points, scoring 13 goals and adding five assists. He was ranked in multiple statistical categories in the GNAC: 2nd in points-per-game and game-winning goals, 3rd in shots, shots-per-game, and goals-per-game, and 4th in total goals and total points. He was also ranked nationally amongst all Division III men's soccer players in the NCAA at 55th for points-per-game (1.72) and 53rd in goals-per game (.72). Hatch scored six game-winning goals in 2008, and was honored by the GNAC as a third team All-Conference honoree for his efforts.
At the conclusion of the season, the sophomore forward had recorded the Lasell All-Time single-game records in most goals in a game (4), most points in a game (10), most shots in a game (9), as well as a single-season record for most game winning goals in a season (6).
As a junior, Hatch played in 15 games for the Lasers, finishing second on the team in points, goals, and assists behind Lasell's All-Time leading point scorer from program history. Hatch ended the season with 18 points, scoring seven goals and dishing out four assists. He was selected to the First Team All-Conference in the GNAC and concluded the season ranked 8th in goals and points-per-game and 10th in assists in the league. He also scored one game-winner against Lyndon State.
Hatch has accumulated a total of 72 points in his career in the Blue & White, having scored 31 goals and added 10 assists in 52 total games with the Lasers.
