Petrin & Lewis Team Up to Collect GNAC Weekly Awards

NEWTON, MA-  Lasell College's men's soccer team picked up both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player and Rookie of the Week awards after Stephen Petrin (Vernon, CT) and Jared Lewis (Haverhill, MA) teamed up to score the game-winning goal in the GNAC Tournament quarter finals on Saturday.  Petrin was selected as the Player of the Week while Lewis acquired the Rookie honors.

The top seeded Lasers were facing the eighth seeded Johnson & Wales Wildcats in the vital quarter final match. Petrin tallied the game-winner with less than five minutes remaining in regulation to break the 1-1 stalemate that had carried through the majority of the contest.  With time winding down, Lewis took possession of the ball and led Petrin to goal with a pass across the end line.  Petrin took a quick dribble and drove the deciding goal into the Wildcats net.

Petrin's goal was the first of the season for the senior defender.  Lewis has made three assists so far this season.  This is a first time honor for both men's soccer players.
