Newton, MA- The Lasell University men's basketball team delivered a commanding win over Dean College 89-82 on Saturday afternoon.
Lasell delivered an impressive first half behind a balanced attack and strong defensive presence, taking a comfortable lead into halftime. Esmer Madesko led the way with 22 points off of a perfect 8-8 shooting from the field, and 2-2 beyond the arc while Andy Madesko added 11 points and controlled the tempo with steady play on both ends. Che Hanks chipped in 9 points and was active defensively, and Jonathan Box knocked down key shots for 5 points. Lasell's depth and ball movement kept pressure on the Bulldogs. The Lasers defensive intensity and efficient scoring sent them to the locker room up 53-37
Lasell closed out the second half with composure, answering multiple runs by Dean to secure the win. Esmer Madesko continued to pace the offense, finishing with 34 points, while Andy Madesko, 17 points, and Hanks, 19 points, delivered timely baskets to keep Lasell in front whenever the margin tightened. The Lasers shot 50% from the field, drained 7 threes, and converted 18-of-24 free throws, while pulling down 42 rebounds and handing out 20 assists. Despite strong scoring spurts from the Bulldogs, Lasell's defensive pressure, ability to force turnovers, and execution down the stretch allowed the Lasers to maintain control and finish off a well-earned victory.
