MBB: Lasers Roll Past Regis, 90–67
Newton, MA- The Lasell University men's basketball team put together one of its most complete performances of the season on Wednesday night, rolling past Regis College, 90–67, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action inside the Athletic Center.
The Lasers wasted no time setting the tone, opening the game with aggressive defensive pressure and efficient offense that quickly put the Pride on their heels. Lasell built separation early behind strong ball movement and hot shooting, racing out to a double-digit lead midway through the first half. A series of timely three-pointers and transition baskets helped the Lasers continue to stretch the margin, and they carried a commanding 44–17 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Regis attempted to find rhythm offensively in the second half, but every surge was met with an answer from the Lasers. Esmer Madesko scored consistently in the paint and in transition, while Tyler Costin energized the home crowd by knocking down five three-pointers off the bench, including several in quick succession that halted any momentum the Pride tried to build. Andy Madesko and Che Hanks continued to apply pressure with strong drives and perimeter shooting, helping Lasell maintain control throughout the final 20 minutes.
Esmer Madesko led all scorers with 22 points on an efficient 9-for-11 shooting night, adding six rebounds and three assists. Costin finished with 17 points in just 14 minutes, going a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc. Andy Madesko added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Hanks chipped in 15 points with three three-pointers. The Lasers finished the game shooting 50 percent from the floor and 40 percent from deep, while also committing just 10 turnovers.
