Worcester, MA- Lasell opened its 2025–26 season with a strong effort on the road but ultimately fell to WPI, 81–69, in overtime on Saturday, November 8. The Lasers led for much of the night and carried a 35–32 advantage into halftime, but cold shooting down the stretch and a dominant extra period from the Engineers proved too much to overcome.
Junior guard Esmer Madesko was outstanding, scoring 30 points on 13-of-24 shooting while adding seven rebounds and two steals. His energy kept Lasell in control through much of regulation, including several key baskets late in the second half. Forward Quinton Partee Jr. added 11 points and six rebounds on an efficient 5-of-7 from the field, while Andy Madesko grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and dished out six assists despite struggling to find his shot.
Lasell's defensive effort was steady throughout the night, forcing 21 WPI turnovers and holding the Engineers to 32 points in the first half. However, WPI caught fire in overtime, outscoring the Lasers 20–8 to seal the win. Lasell shot 36 percent from the floor and 26 percent from three-point range, while WPI finished at just over 41 percent and took advantage at the free-throw line.
Up Next: The Lasers will be back on the court this Tuesday with a non-conference matchup at Wheaton.
