Omanovic Captures Third GNAC Player of the Week Honors
For the third time this season, senior guard Armin Omanovic (Wilkesboro, N.C.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.
NEWTON, Mass. (1/30/17) – For the third time this season, senior guard Armin Omanovic (Wilkesboro, N.C.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.
Omanovic paced the Lasers offensively in a 2-0 conference showing, highlighted by a monster 35 points (27 from long range) in Lasell's 101-70 slam over Mount Ida. The senior recorded 28 points in the latter victory at Norwich, shooting 42.9% overall from the floor (18-42 FG, 13-31 3PT, 14-17 FT).
In the week stretch, Omanovic averaged 31.5 points per game, factoring into his 26.8 PPG stat for the season. Omanovic is not only the GNAC point leader with 509, but is also currently the Division III total points leader across the NCAA.
Omanovic and the Lasers will play both GNAC contests at home this week, starting with a 7:00 p.m. tip on Wednesday vs. Anna Maria College.
