Ganesh and Niba Claim GNAC 2nd Team Honors in Men's Hoops; O'Brien Sportsmanship Team
NEWTON, Mass. (3/3/14) – The Lasell College men's basketball team had a pair of players named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Second Team All-League. Senior Brandon Ganesh (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and sophomore Clyde Niba (Atlanta, Ga.) were both recognized by coaches with second team honors.
Ganesh averaged 21 points per game with 4.0 rebounds per game and 3.1 assists per contest. The senior guard ranked second in the GNAC in scoring and in free throws made, converting 130 on the year to shoot 82.3% from the charity stripe. Ganesh scored in double figures in all but four of his 24 appearances, including six 30+ point efforts on the season.
Niba ranked fourth in the GNAC at 19.0 points per game, lead the conference in rebounding at 10.8 rebounds per game and was fifth in the GNAC with 24 blocked shots. The sophomore forward posted 14 double-doubles in 27 games while playing 33.9 mpg. Niba also ranked third in the conference in 3pt. field goal percentage, shooting 43.8% from behind the arc on the season.
Lasell sophomore guard Richard O'Brien (Manchester, N.H.) was named to the GNAC Sportsmanship team after averaging 7.0 points per game and shooting 36.3% from three point territory while starting 25 of the 27 games he appeared in.
Lasell will play at Salve Regina on Wednesday March 5th in the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England quarterfinals at 7:00 p.m.
