Emerson Stops Lasell in Men's Basketball
The Lasell College men’s basketball team fell in a conference contest against Emerson College, 80-51.
Boston, Mass. (01/31/2013) – The Lasell College men's basketball team fell in a conference contest against Emerson College, 80-51. Lasell dropped to 5-17 overall and 4-11 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Emerson is now in third in the GNAC with a record of 12-9 overall and 10-4 in conference play.
Lions leading scorer freshman guard Michael Thorpe (Newton, Mass.), tallied a game high 19 points, which pushed him into the top 25 scorers in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with an average of 11.6 points per game. Junior Jon Goldberg (Stowe, Vt.) contributed to the Lions victory with 12 points and a team high seven rebounds.
Emerson's offensive attack spearheaded by 43.5% shooting from the floor and 47.1% from behind the three point line helped them to a comfortable victory. Lasell shot 62.1% at the free throw line but that could not help the Lasers keep pace with the host Lions.
