Lasell Tops Century Mark against Johnson & Wales, 103-95
Providence, RI- Lasell had four athletes score double-figures against Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday, en route to a 103-95 win over the Wildcats. Jose Guitian (Miami, FL) and Junior Sainval (Miami, FL) united for over half of the teams total points, with Guitian knocking down 32 points, and Sainval connecting on twenty-three. Additionally, Brad Caravoulias (Dracut, Mass.) and Corey Godfrey (Cambridge, Mass.) supplied a further 29 points.

The teams traded leads throughout a close first half, and found themselves in a 28-all tie with seven minutes remaining, yet by the five minute mark Lasell had stretched a ten point lead. Guitian picked up a double-double in the half with 22 of his total points, as well as adding 14 rebounds and five assists. Caravoulias and Sainval each put in ten on the half, and Javon Williams (Mattapan, Mass.) chipped in eight. The Lasers entered the locker room with a 54-43 halftime lead.
Johnson & Wales came into the second on fire, shooting 74.2% in the half, significantly higher than Lasell's 40.6%, as well as holding a slight rebounding edge (19-16). The Wildcats took their first lead since the previous eight minute mark, at 8:38, when Darren Faust (Queens, NY) drained a three to tie, then added one from the charity stripe to go ahead, 74-73. The Lasers pulled ahead for good, exactly one minute later when Guitian hit a jumper, plus one. The Lasers then put together a 13-5 run over the following five minutes, prevailing at 103-95.
Guitian closed out the night with just short of a triple-double, with an incredible 32 points, 21 rebounds, 9 assists, as well as 2 blocks. Sainval had 4 assists and 3 boards to go along with his 23 points.
The Lasers (12-4) have won their last eight straight contests, and are undefeated in the GNAC, standing at 9-0. Lasell returns to action on Thursday, January 29th when they host Rivier College at 7:00 p.m. The Lasers beat Rivier once before in an away contest earlier in the season, with a 68-57 final decision.
