GUITIAN RECIEVES PLAYER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES

Jose Guitian (Miami, FL) has been awarded the GNAC men's basketball Player of the Week distinction for the week ending December 8th, 2008.  Guitian scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Lasell's opening GNAC game, helping Lasell to a 68-57 win over Rivier College.  Prior in the week, Guitian shot 10-21 against no.10 Amherst College, and went 100% from the free throw line on his way to registering a contest-high 28 points against the Lord Jeff's.

Guitian is currently ranked third in the GNAC for scoring and second in rebounding for this season, averaging 20.8 points per game and 9.6 rebounds.Guitian also finished the 2007-2008 season with an all-time record for Lasell men's basketball with 340 rebounds in a season, having broken his own record from the previous year (319).  Guitian is currently ranked 2nd and is only 21 boards away from breaking the all-time career rebounds record at Lasell (853) and is third all-time in points, with 1359 overall. 

The Lasers are 4-3 overall this year so far, and 2-0 in the GNAC.  The Lasers play in non-conference action at Babson College Thursday, December 10th, and finish out the Fall semester with another conference matchup on Saturday, December 13th, when they take on St. Joseph's College of Maine on at home.
