GUITIAN HONORED AS ECAC NEW ENGLAND PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jose Guitian has done it again. For the second straight week, the 610 senior, captain from Miami, Florida has received the Player of the Week honors from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, and on top of that, this week Guitian is also being recognized as the ECAC New England Player of the Week.

Athletic Conference, and on top of that, this week Guitian is also
being recognized as the ECAC New England Player of the
Week.
Guitian received these honors as a result of a week that he averaged 22 points and 12.7 rebounds in three games for the Lasers. He tallied 25 points and 18 rebounds against Norwich and followed that with 29 point, 12 board performance versus St. Joseph's (Maine). A complete player, Guitian also had 4 blocks over the course of the week and 8 assists.
After nine games this season, Guitian is averaging 21.2 points per game, shooting 49.6% from the floor. He also is picking up 10.8 rebound per game, 2.3 assists per game, and 1.7 blocks per game. As of the latest GNAC statistics, he is ranked third in scoring, first in rebounding, and third in blocked shots.
Guitian is currently ranked 2nd in Lasell's men's basketball all-time rebounding record books with 852 total boards, and is just two rebounds away from becoming the Lasers' all-time rebounding leader. With 1400 total career points to date, he is well on his way to breaking the 1,500 point milestone, as well as being 185 points away from becoming Lasers' the all-time leading scorer, a record currently held by Jamie Crawford (1584 career points).
The Lasers currently hold a 5-4 mark at this point of the season, and are undefeated at 3-0 in GNAC play. Lasell has finished competition for this semester and will return to the court in January 2009, opening up at Albertus Magnus College on Saturday, the 10th.
