Guitian Pulls Down 1,000th Rebound

Jose Guitian (Miami, FL) became the first Laser to record 1,000 rebounds in Lasell College basketball history.  The senior, captain grabbed his record setting rebound at home on Monday night, February 2nd, in a 61-39 win over Albertus Magnus College. 

Walking into the game on Monday, Guitian needed eight to reach the millennium mark, and he tore those eight down just over three minutes into the game.  Averaging 13.7 rebounds per game, Guitian had an incredible night at the boards, taking down 16 in the first half alone and 24 by the end of the contest. 

Guitian scored his 1,000th point last season on February 2, 2008 against Suffolk University in a 38 point performance, and then recorded his 1,500th point earlier this season, on January 22, 2009, against Keene State University with a 26 point night.   Just one week later, Guitian became the all-time leading scorer in Lasell men's basketball history when he topped the previous record of 1,584 total career points.  Guitian also broke the all-time rebounding record at Lasell on January 10th, 2009, when the Lasers played at Albertus Magnus.
