Four Lasers Take Home Weekly Honors
NEWTON, MA- Four Lasell College athletes were awarded weekly honors by their respective conferences. Junior Kristin Coderre (Monson, MA) and freshman Rebecca Stanton (Agawam, MA) earned Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week respectively for women's lacrosse and senior Tricia Culver (Northampton, MA) was selected as Player of the Week for softball from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Sam Wilcox (Norfolk, MA) was chosen by the Pilgrim League as the men's lacrosse Player of the Week.

Junior Kristin Coderre (Monson, MA) and freshman Rebecca Stanton (Agawam, MA) earned Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week respectively for women's lacrosse and senior Tricia Culver (Northampton, MA) was selected as Player of the Week for softball from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Junior midfielder Sam Wilcox (Norfolk, MA) was chosen by the Pilgrim League as the men's lacrosse Player of the Week.
Coderre (left) averaged 12.5 saves per game in a 2-2 week for the
Lasers. She earned her first win of the season against
Nichols College, making 14 saves in 60 minutes. She also made
20 saves against Curry College in the season opener and 14 saves
against Westfield State College.
Stanton (right)was selected after a week in which the rookie
midfielder averaged 1.75 goals, one assist, 3.5 points, 3.25 ground
balls, four draw controls, and 1.75 caused turnovers per
game. She scored seven goals and added two assists for a
game-high nine points against Daniel Webster College. Also in
that game, Stanton picked up six ground balls, six draw controls,
and caused two turnovers. She also had a top performance
against Nichols College, during which she scored four points, added
five ground ball pickups, seven draw controls, and two caused
turnovers.
On the softball team’s opening day in Fort Myers, Florida,
Culver (left) had a great showing with three hits, including one
double and one home run, to go along with two RBI’s.
Culver produced a .500 batting average, a 1.167 slugging
percentage, and a .571 on-base percentage. Against Fredonia
State, Culver hit a homerun in her first at-bat, while also making
two outs and adding an assist from the outfield. Culver also
produced one hit, a walk and a stolen base against University of
Wisconsin- Platteville in the Lasers’ second game of the day.
Wilcox (right) was selected as the Pilgrim League Player of the Week after a two goal performance against Roger Williams University in the Lasers’ first win of the season. Wilcox has six total points this season, adding in two goals and an assist against Bates College on Saturday March 6th, and scoring one goal against University of New England in the Lasers season opener. He is currently ranked 9th in the Pilgrim league in goals per game.
