Newton, MA – The Lasell University field hockey team dropped a 4–1 decision to visiting Salve Regina University on Wednesday evening at Grellier Field. The non-conference loss moves the Lasers to 1–3 on the season, while the Seahawks remain undefeated at 4–0.
After falling behind 2–0 in the first half, the Lasers responded late in the second quarter when sophomore midfielder Mara Boldy found the back of the cage off an unassisted effort in the 28th minute, cutting the deficit in half heading into the break.
Despite a solid defensive effort in the third quarter, the Lasers were unable to hold off a late surge from Salve Regina. The Seahawks added two goals in the final frame to seal the win.
Lasell split time in goal between McKenna Ecker and Brooke Gaudet, who combined for 11 saves on the night. Ecker stopped four shots in the first half, while Gaudet turned away seven in the second.
Offensively, Lasell recorded seven shots with three on goal, led by Boldy's two on-target attempts and her solo goalof the evening. Midfielder Jacquelyn Scopa also registered a shot on goal, while defenders Isabella O'Reilly and Kaylene Ellis helped anchor the backline.
