Newton, MA- The Lasers earned their first victory of the season over the Framingham State Rams during their non-conference home opener Wednesday evening on Grellier Field.
The Rams got on the board early in the first but a goal from Mara Boldy just two minutes later evened things back out. The first quarter was an intense back and forth, with Lasell's Brooklyn Northcutt next to make it on the board, followed by a Rams goal three minutes later. The Lasers finished the first quarter strong with a goal from Megan Crabtree making it 3-2.
Things slowed down the second quarter, ending with a goal from Northcutt, her second of the evening. The teams broke for halftime with Lasell leading 4-2.
The Rams rallied quick in the third, with a goal just seconds into the quarter. A second goal at the end of the quarter tied things up 4-4. That did not stop the Lasers though, Halleen Seguin scored right before the buzzer sounded giving Lasell a single goal advantage heading into the fourth.
The Lasers dominated the final quarter with goals from Crabtree, her second of the night, and Northcutt, her third of the night making the final score 7-4.
Lasell dominated the game offensively, taking fourty-three shots to FSU's nine as well as a 17-4 advantage on penalty corners. Northcutt lead the Lasers offense with three goals, followed by Crabtree who tallied a career-high five points.
