Newton, MA- The Lasers earned their first victory of the season over the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth during their non-conference home opener Sunday afternoon on Grellier Field.
Lasell scored the only goal of the game late into the first quarter off of a penalty corner with a goal by freshman Megan Crabtree, her first collegiate point. The goal came after a shot from the top of the circle, assisted by graduate student Johanna Snyder.
The rest of the quarter saw four more shots from the Corsairs and a penalty corner against Lasell, but remained scoreless as the Lasers entered the second quarter with a 1-0 lead.
Lasell continued to dominate the Corsairs in the second quarter, outshooting the Corsairs with 8 shots on net as the game stayed tied headed into halftime. The Lasers continued to outshoot UMass Dartmouth throughout the second half, leading them in shots 24-11 as well as in penalty corners 8-5.
Up Next: On the road, Lasell will face their first GNAC game at Albertus Magnus at 6:00pm on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
