Waltham, MA- The Lasell University baseball team celebrated their seniors at their final regular-season matchups against Suffolk.
Game 1:
Lasell put together a solid offensive effort but couldn't keep pace as they dropped Game 1 by a final score of 9–4.
The Lasers collected eight hits and showed aggressiveness on the base paths, swiping six bases. Declan Silva led the way at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base. Bobby Long added a run and an RBI, while also stealing two bases, and Connor Freitas contributed with a hit and an RBI.
Lasell got on the board early and continued to apply pressure, with Tim Callahan scoring a run and adding a hit, while Braelen Silva reached base twice and stole a bag. Hayden Nunley made an impact on the bases as well, coming around to score after entering as a pinch runner.
On the mound, Luke Descheneaux took the loss after allowing four runs over four innings. The bullpen struggled to contain the opposing offense, as Tommy Flanagan surrendered three runs in one inning, including a home run. Chase Curran allowed two more runs in relief, while James Hereford provided a scoreless inning.
Game 2:
Lasell responded in a big way in Game 2, using strong middle relief to secure an 8–6 victory.
The Lasers totaled 15 hits, with production coming throughout the lineup. Declan Silva set the tone at the top, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Freitas delivered a standout performance, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a sacrifice fly.
Tim Callahan had a huge all-around game, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while also contributing on the mound late. Calvin Sanft drove in two runs, and Callahan Bullens added a key RBI while crossing the plate twice.
Lasell continued to pressure the Rams with aggressive base running, swiping multiple bags and taking extra bases, helping turn hits into scoring opportunities.
On the mound, the Lasers pieced together the win with a committee approach. After a short start from Shea Caton, Sawyer DiMatteo earned the win with four scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and keeping Suffolk off balance. Lucas Stogner followed with a clean inning, and Michael Webber added another scoreless frame late.
