Waltham, MA- The Lasers faced off against non-conference opponent Emerson College, finishing the afternoon with two hard-earned wins.
Game 1:
Lasell broke things open early and never looked back, rolling to a 9–2 win over Emerson in game one.
The game was scoreless through two innings before Lasell seized control in the third. A three-run frame, highlighted by timely hitting at the top of the lineup, gave them an early cushion. They followed it up with an even bigger fourth inning, plating four more runs to build a commanding 7–0 lead.
At the heart of the offense were Declan Silva and Tim Callahan, who set the tone all afternoon. Silva went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Callahan delivered a huge 4-for-5 performance, including a triple, double, three runs scored, and an RBI. The middle of the order did the damage driving runs in. Calvin Sanft led the way with three RBIs on three hits, and Connor Freitas added a pair of RBIs, including a sacrifice fly. Jonah Nielsen provided the biggest swing of the game, launching a home run and finishing with two hits and two RBIs.
On the mound, Lasell's staff was just as effective. Ty Lohsen set the tone with four scoreless innings, allowing five hits while keeping Emerson off the board. Benjamin Conlon earned the win in relief, striking out six over four innings while allowing just two runs. Lucas Stogner closed things out with a clean ninth to secure the victory.
Game 2:
The Lasers edged the Lions 4–3 in game two, using a big early inning and just enough pitching to hold off a late push and complete the win.
Emerson struck first with a run in the opening frame and added another in the third, but Lasell answered quickly and decisively. A three-run second inning flipped the momentum, highlighted by Declan Silva delivering a clutch bases-clearing double. Lasell tacked on an additional run in the third to take a 4–2 lead they wouldn't give back.
Silva led the offense, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, accounting for most of Lasell's production at the plate. Sanft added a two-hit effort, while Freitas, Jonah Nielsen, and Tyler McDonald each chipped in hits as Lasell totaled nine on the day.
On the mound, Chase Supan earned the win with a solid six-inning outing, allowing three runs (two earned) while striking out three. Despite some defensive miscues behind him, Supan limited damage and kept Lasell in control. The bullpen took over from there, as Derrick Dellea and Jeremy Wacker combined for three scoreless innings to shut the door.
Emerson threatened late with a run in the seventh, but Lasell's pitching held firm down the stretch. Even with three errors in the field, Lasell's timely hitting and strong bullpen performance proved to be the difference in a tight 4–3 victory.
