Melrose, MA- The Lasell baseball team swept River in a rainy GNAC double-header.
Game 1:
Lasell did just enough to secure a 5–4 win to walk it off over Rivier in the 7th inning.
At the plate, Lasell racked up 12 hits and showed production throughout the lineup. Declan Silva set the tone at the top, scoring twice and adding a double, while Braelen Silva also had a strong day with two hits and a run scored. Calvin Sanft contributed with a pair of hits and an RBI, helping keep pressure on Rivier's pitching.
The biggest swing came from Andrew Hosford, who delivered a clutch pinch-hit triple that drove in two runs, providing the difference in a one-run game. Tyler Holt added an RBI as well, and Connor Freitas helped his own cause with an RBI.
On the mound, Freitas went 6.1 innings, allowing four runs while striking out six. He battled through traffic all game but kept Lasell within reach. Lucas Stogner came in to record the final two outs and earned the win, shutting the door in a tight finish.
Game 2:
Lasell left no doubt in Game 2, exploding offensively in a dominant 14–2 win to complete the sweep.
The Lasers jumped on the Raiders immediately, putting up a run in the first before breaking the game wide open with a seven-run second and a six-run third. By the end of three innings, Lasell had built a commanding 14–0 lead and never looked back.
At the top of the lineup, Declan Silva continued his strong day, going 3-for-5 with two runs and a pair of doubles. Tim Callahan delivered three hits, drove in three, and swiped two bases. In the middle of the order, Jeremy Angeles was a major difference-maker, finishing with two hits and a game-high four RBIs. Freitas added two hits and an RBI, while Nick Nigro chipped in with a hit, a run scored, and an RBI.
On the mound, Luke Descheneaux was in complete control, tossing a complete game and allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out three and walking none. He worked efficiently all afternoon, keeping Rivier off balance and cruising with a big cushion.
