Melrose, MA- The Lasell University baseball team faced the University of Saint Joseph Connecticut on Saturday afternoon and went 1-1.
Game 1-
Lasell powered its way to a 6–5 win in Game 1. The offense did its damage efficiently, scoring six runs on seven hits. Declan Silva led the way with a huge performance, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to spark the middle of the lineup. Calvin Sanft stayed hot at the plate as well, collecting two hits and driving in a run, while Bobby Long added an RBI knock to keep the pressure on. Connor Freitas chipped in with a run driven in despite not recording a hit, showing Lasell's ability to manufacture offense in multiple ways.
Lasell jumped ahead early, with Tim Callahan and Braelen Silva helping set the table at the top and bottom of the order. Even without recording a hit, Jonah Nielsen made an impact by scoring twice and applying pressure on the bases.
On the mound, Chase Supan earned the win, going five innings while allowing five runs. He battled through some trouble, giving up two home runs, but limited further damage to keep Lasell in front. Jeremy Wacker was sharp out of the bullpen, tossing two scoreless innings and allowing just two hits to lock down the victory.
Game 2-
Game 2 turned into a tough one as Lasell couldn't keep pace in an 18-6 loss.
At the plate, the Lasers collected 12 hits and showed some early promise. Jonah led the way with a big swing, going 2-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBIs to provide most of the team's run production. Tyler McDonald added a strong performance as well, finishing 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs, while Jeremy Angeles was a bright spot at the bottom of the lineup, going 3-for-4 and consistently putting pressure on the defense. Declan Silva chipped in with two hits, including a double, and Braelen Silva reached base three times with a hit and two walks.
Lasell was able to push across six runs, but missed opportunities proved costly, leaving 12 runners on base and striking out 10 times.
On the mound, the game proved challenging from the start. Benjamin Conlon got the ball and went four innings, allowing six runs on nine hits. The bullpen struggled to slow the momentum, as Lucas Stogner, Joshua Cavas, Shea Caton, and Tommy Flanagan combined to allow 12 runs over the final five innings.
