Brighton, MA- The Lasell University baseball team faced Elms college in a GNAC double-header and went 1-1, wining game one 5-0 and losing game two 13-9.
Game 1-
Luke Descheneaux led the way on the mound, throwing a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out three. He stayed in control all game and never let the Blazers lineup get comfortable.
At the plate, the team tallied nine hits. Tyler McDonald had a perfect 3-for-3 day and scored a run, setting the tone offensively. Nick Nigro came through in key moments with two RBIs, while Tim Callahan added an RBI double and Jonah Nielsen chipped in an RBI, including a sacrifice fly. Declan Silva sparked the offense with two runs scored and two stolen bases, and the Lasers were aggressive overall with five steals.
Game 2-
The lineup produced 12 hits and scored nine runs, but fell 13-9. Calvin Sanft led the way, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a triple, while Silva added two hits, two runs scored, and a triple of his own. Jeremy Angeles also had a big day, finishing with two hits, two runs, and an RBI. Nigro provided a major spark, driving in three runs, and Braelen Silva chipped in two hits and an RBI. McDonald added an RBI, and Callahan contributed with a sacrifice fly.
Despite the offensive production, pitching struggles proved costly. The staff allowed 13 runs on 10 hits and issued eight walks. Michael Webber took the loss, surrendering five runs in relief, while Andrew Yen also allowed three runs. Jeremy Wacker and Lucas Stogner were bright spots out of the bullpen, combining for four scoreless innings.
Up Next- Lasell will be back in action at Saint Joseph's Maine on Saturday April 4.
