BSB: Lasers Selected Fourth In GNAC Pre-Season Poll
Newton, MA- Lasell University baseball was selected fourth in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll as the Lasers prepare for the 2026 season.
Now under the direction of first-year head coach Matt Sammarco, Lasell enters the year with its sights set on a deep postseason run after being eliminated in the second round of last year's GNAC Tournament. With new leadership at the helm, the Lasers will look to pair veteran experience with emerging contributors in a highly competitive conference.
Offensively, the Lasers are led by Tim Callahan, the 2025 GNAC Player of the Year and All-Region selection. A mainstay in the Lasell lineup for the past three seasons, Callahan has rewritten nearly every offensive record in program history and remains one of the conference's most dangerous hitters.
Joining Callahan is veteran outfielder Connor Freitas, a 2025 GNAC All-Conference Third Team selection. Freitas posted a .327 batting average last season while showcasing defensive reliability with an exceptional fielding percentage, making him a steady presence throughout the Lasell lineup.
On the mound, Adam Marsh returns as a proven arm after compiling a 13–4 career record, providing stability and experience to the pitching staff.
Junior outfielder Declan Silva is expected to take on an expanded role as he enters his upperclassman years. Silva has been a consistent contributor since joining the varsity program and appeared in every game during the 2025 season, positioning him as a key piece of the Lasers' everyday lineup.
Junior Ty Lohsen will look to take over the reins on the mound for the Lasers following the departure of longtime starting pitcher Matthew Fletcher. Lohsen appeared in 16 relief outings during the 2025 season, allowing just eight earned runs, and will be counted on to anchor the pitching staff as he enters his junior campaign.
With a strong returning core and new leadership guiding the program, Lasell is well-positioned to challenge for postseason success as the 2026 campaign gets underway.
