BB: Lasers Drop Senior Day Game to Fisher
Newton, MA - The Lasell University baseball team suffered a tough 14-3 loss to visiting Fisher College on Monday night on Brandeis' Stein Diamond. Despite a solid effort early on, the Lasers were ultimately overpowered by a late offensive surge from the Falcons, who knocked several pitchers out of the Laser bullpen.
Before the start of the game, time was taken to honor the 2025 senior class of the team. There were 11 total seniors honored who have contributed to the program during their Lasell tenure, which includes: Pitcher - Jeremy Blackwood, Catcher - Christopher Bulk, Pitcher - Owen Caldwell, Infielder - Tim Callahan, First Basemen/Pitcher - Pierce Clare, First Basemen - Tyler DiNezza, Pitcher - Matthew Fletcher, Infielder/Pitcher - Connor Freitas, Pitcher - Adam Marsh, Infielder - Jared Whitby, and Pitcher - Brendan Zaleski.
In the game, it was a low-scoring first few innings, with Fisher managing only a solo home run by Ian Cabrera in the third to break the scoreless tie. Lasell answered in the fifth when Tyler DiNezza crossed the plate on a fielder's choice, trimming the deficit to 3-1 at the time. However, the game unraveled for Lasell in the sixth inning, when Fisher exploded for eight runs. The big blow came off the bat of Gabriel Rivera, who launched a grand slam to left-center, and Fisher saw themselves capture an 11-1 advantage. The Lasers showed brief signs of life in the bottom half of the inning, as DiNezza came through with a two-run single that scored Tim Callahan and Scott Lyon to make it 11-3, but the Falcons tacked on three more insurance runs in the seventh, closing the scoring at 14-3. Lasell used eight pitchers in the effort, with Chase Supan (1-2) taking the loss after allowing two runs over two innings. The defeat drops Lasell to 22-8 overall.
Up Next - The Lasers look to bounce back in their next matchup as they gear up for a GNAC contest vs Rivier on Thursday afternoon.
