BB: Lasers Drop Non-Conference Game vs Babson
Wellesley, MA - In a non-conference matchup, the Lasers faced the Beavers of Babson College on Govoni Field on Tuesday afternoon. After Lasell hung five runs in the third inning, the Beavers responded with multiple runs in the following three innings which led them to defeat the Lasers by a score of 11-5.
After a scoreless first two innings, the Laser's offense posted a series of hits in the third. Connor Freitas, Scott Lyon, and Ross Audet each provided key RBI knocks in the frame which opened up the lead for the Lasers. The Beavers got two runs back in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth inning which tied the game 5-5, and forced Lasers starter Jeremy Blackwood out of the game. Unfortunately, after inserting Chase Supan in relief, he relinquished three earned runs as part of the Beavers' 6-run sixth inning. After this, the bullpens for both teams shut down the opposing offenses and the Lasers were unable to draw any closer, suffering the 11-5 road loss.
Ross Audet went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Scott Lyon scored a run to go along with his two RBIs. Jeremy Blackwood went four innings allowing three earned runs and Chase Supan took the loss as he falls to a 1-1 record on the mound.
