BB: Lasers Get Past Colby-Sawyer 5-4
New London, NH - The Lasell University baseball team played a GNAC matchup vs the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College on Thursday afternoon. They would prove victorious with a 5-4 win and improve to 17-7 overall and 6-1 in GNAC play.
The first three innings of the game were a pitcher's duel as Lasers Adam Marsh and Chargers Zach Rogers didn't allow any runs to score. That would change in the fourth inning when Ross Audet broke the tie on his RBI single down the rightfield line, scoring the first run of the game. Then with two outs, CJ Mills would provide a 2-RBI single to center, scoring Audet and Jared Whitby. The Chargers responded to this in the bottom of the inning as they first scored on a sacrifice fly, and later on a 2-run home run by Noah Staffier that tied the game 3-3. The Lasers would retake the lead in the fifth with Tim Callahan coming in to score until the Chargers tied it once more in the sixth off another sacrifice fly. Headed into the eighth, both teams needed a run to break the tie. It was Jared Whitby who singled to score Christopher Bulk from second base, and was the deciding run as Owen Caldwell and Zach Simone shut down the Chargers in the eighth and ninth innings to secure the 5-4 win. Caldwell would pick up the win, improving to 4-0 on the 2025 campaign and Simone earned his second pitching save of the year. Starter Adam Marsh went six innings allowing three earned runs and striking out two. CJ Mills led the Lasers with his 2 RBIs and Tim Callahan and Ross Audet each produced 2-for-4 hitting outings.
Up Next - The Lasers will continue their road stint on Sunday afternoon with a game at Elms College set for 1 PM.
