BB: Lasers Use Multiple Home Run Blasts to Defeat Monks 10-6
West Roxbury, MA - The Lasell University baseball team hosted their first GNAC conference game of the 2025 campaign Saturday against the Monks of St. Joseph (ME). They were fueled by multiple home run balls on the day, and took a 10-6 victory for their first conference win.
The game for the Lasers started out with a bang. After starting pitcher Matthew Fletcher worked through the top of the first inning, CJ Mills blasted a leadoff homerun over the leftfield fence to put the Lasers on the board. Two more runs would come home shortly thereafter and earned an early 3-0 lead through the first. In the second inning, Bobby Long joined in on hitting the long ball as he hit a solo shot and pushed the Laser lead to 4-0. Pierce Clare would add a home run of his own in the third, also driving in Connor Freitas which made it a 6-0 game. Scott Lyon would add the fourth and final Laser home run in the seventh which put them up 10-3. The Monks would try and create a comeback in the ninth inning after a two-run home run, but a 6-4-3 double play helped put an end to the rally and gave Lasell the 10-6 win.
Pitcher Matthew Fletcher earned his third win on the year with 7.2 IP and 7 K's. Declan Silva would go 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored and Tim Callahan had a 2-for-5 day with 2 runs scored. The four combined home runs from CJ Mills, Bobby Long, Pierce Clare, and Scott Lyon also tied the school record for home runs in a game with four.
Up Next - The Lasers will be back in action on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader at Brandeis against Norwich with first pitch times set for 1/4 PM.
