NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Junior Joe Sullivan (East Sandwich, Mass.) singled home the winning run with two outs in the top of the ninth inning Thursday evening as Lasell College defeated Pine Manor College, 4-3, in a non-conference baseball game at the New England Baseball Complex.

Senior Evan Michalek (Berlin, Conn.) singled, stole second and later came home on an infield grounder in the first inning, and classmate Andre Marchesseault (Cheshire, Conn.) singled home a run in the third. The Gators (6-22) rallied to tie the score with two runs in the sixth inning as sophomore Randall Adams (Garden Grove, Calif.) belted a home run to right field and classmate Paul Kittredge (Carver, Mass.) hit a sacrifice fly.
The Lasers pulled ahead in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI double by senior Zach Herring (Fresno, Calif.), but Pine Manor answered in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by freshman Franklin Baez (Leominster, Mass.).
Senior David Marsell (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) started the game-winning rally for Lasell in the ninth with a one-out double to right field. After a walk to Marchesseault and another out, Sullivan delivered a single to right to score pinch-runner Drew Szafranski (Cumberland, R.I.).
Sophomore Sean Doris (Lincoln, R.I.) started for Lasell and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and four walks, striking out five. Senior Justin Webb (San Diego, Calif.) earned the win in relief (1-0), working 2.1 innings and allowing one run on three hits, fanning five, and sophomore Zak Phillips (West Boylston, Mass.) earned his first save with a perfect ninth inning.
