Johnson Named GNAC Pitcher of the Week
Senior Casey Johnson (Windsor, Conn.) of the Lasell College baseball team was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon.
NEWTON, Mass. (4/3/17) -- Senior Casey Johnson (Windsor, Conn.) of the Lasell College baseball team was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon.
Johnson pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out two to lead Lasell to last Thursday's 1-0 win at Gordon, allowing just five hits and three walks. It marked Johnson's first seven-inning outing of the season, a feat he achieved in back-to-back GNAC doubleheaders last April.
This spring, Johnson is one of 10 GNAC pitchers with two victories and paces the Lasers with 21.2 innings of work. He is the first Laser to earn a weekly conference honor since current sophomore Daniel Petr (East Haven, Conn.) was also named Pitcher and Rookie of the Week last Apr. 18.
The Lasers are scheduled to take the field against the Hawks of Becker College on Tuesday, April 4. First pitch at Brandeis University's Stein Diamond is set for 7:00 p.m.
