Petr Earns GNAC Corvias Pitcher/Rookie of the Week

NEWTON, Mass. (4/18/16) – After a stellar outing on the mound last week, freshman Dan Petr (East Haven, Conn.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Adding to his accomplishments, Petr was also named the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Pitcher of the Week as one of two Division III players recognized, and most recently, the ECAC Division III Pitcher of the Week. 

Petr earned his first two collegiate victories as a Laser with wins over Albertus Magnus and Anna Maria, and scattered just three hits and three walks over 14 innings of work. Petr's impressive week was highlighted by a seven-inning no-hitter in a 4-1 win over the AMCATS, and became the second Laser in school history to pitch a clean slate in a full game. Petr previously shut out the Falcons on Monday, 6-0, and allowed just three hits to earn a 0.00 ERA on the week with eight strike outs and three walks.

Petr and the Lasell baseball team returns to action tonight at Gordon College with first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m.
