Seniors Tyler Flaherty (Portland, Maine) and Skylar Beckerman (Pensacola, Fla.), sophomore Dom Mascolo (Waterbury, Conn.) and freshman Chris Margino (Framingville, N.Y.) each drove in runs for the Lasers, while Flaherty and Maringo swung into a double apiece. Beckerman went 2-for-3 at the plate to join senior Wes Hurty (Windsor, Conn.), who scored one of the five runs in the effort.
The montage of scoring from the Bison was led by sophomore Cam Cook (Phoenixville, Pa.) on a five-RBI, three-run performance from the plate. Cook additionally turned two double plays on defense, as did senior Benjamin Harrow (North Reading, Mass.). Three Bison swung into a trio of ribbies as well in the victory, put together by sophomores Nick Osma (Babylon, N.Y.) and Ross Caswell (Randolph, Vt.) and junior Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.).
The Bison put five on the scoreboard in the opening inning of the game, as freshman Joe Assenza (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and sophomore Spencer Madden (Nashua, N.H.) owned the top of the order with two base hits. The duo was later plated on a Caswell single and a throwing error on the Lasers, before Caswell scored off sophomore Nick Roy's (Middletown, Conn.) double down the right field line.
In the next half inning, junior Hector Coscione (Newton, Mass.) worked his way around the bases after a base hit through the left side. Beckerman drove in the lone run of the inning for Lasell before Flaherty's double to center field score Hurty in the bottom of the second. In the final four innings, the Bison tacked on a combined 20 runs to the Lasers' two for the final 28-5 outcome.
Nichols' freshman pitcher Thomas Hyland (Nashua, N.H.) earned his first win of his collegiate career, allowing three runs on five innings tossed. Senior Gary Trottier (Rehoboth, Mass.) suffered the loss on eight runs scored – six earned – in the four opening innings for Lasell.
