Plymouth Takes Two from Lasell in Baseball

Fort Myers, Fla. (3/17/13) - The Lasell College baseball team dropped a pair of games to Plymouth State University to open their spring trip south. The Lasers lost 8-4 in game one, then dropped the second game 6-5 to leave them at 0-2 on the season.
Game One: Jackson Gervais rapped an RBI double, and Bobby Stachura and Jacob Salkovitz each had RBI singles for Lasell. Kevin Post went five innings on the mound, allowing five runs, three earned, on six hits and one walk while striking out four. Vinny Romano allowed three runs in two innings of relief work, striking out two batters.
The Panthers scored a pair of runs in the first inning, then added runs in the second and third to build a 4-0 lead in the early going. In the bottom half of the fourth inning Lasell scored three times to cut their deficit to a run, stringing together three straight hits. Both teams scored in the fifth, leaving Lasell still trailing by a run.
Plymouth out the game out of reach with a run in the sixth and a pair of runs in the seventh.
Game Two: Billy Uberti had a pair of hits in the second game, and Corey Michel scored twice in the Lasers 6-5 loss. Matti Doxter took the loss for Lasell, allowing six runs on eight hits in four and a third innings. Rob Madden pitched a scoreless inning and two-thirds striking out one and giving up three hits.
After falling behind 3-0 in the third inning, Lasell put four runs on the board in the top of the fourth to take a 4-3 lead. The Lasers added another run in the top of the fifth to push their lead to 5-3. The Panthers scored three runs in the bottom of fifth to retake the lead 6-5, and held off Lasell in their final two innings to capture the victory.
