Eric Howard (Newton, MA) has debuted as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the initial week of Spring awards.
The rookie hurler has been instrumental in two of Lasell's wins so far this season, helping the team to the best start in program history with a 4-1 record. The Lasers also stand at the top of the GNAC standings at this point in the season having only dropped one game to Kenyon College on the first day of spring training in Florida.
Howard made his first appearance on the mound on opening day for the Lasers assisting in Lasell's 6-4 win over NYU Polytechnic. Howard struck out five in two innings of work while allowing just two hits and one unearned run.
On this past Sunday, Howard earned his first start of the season, and his first win, in a 6-2 victory over Nichols College. The first year retired two batters on strikes, let up five hits and two unearned runs in a complete game.
Howard currently has a 0.00 ERA this season.
