Lasers' Updates 12/02/2008
Men's Basketball
The Lasell College men's basketball team played neck-in-neck with the Engineers of Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Tuesday evening, but lost with 7 seconds to go as the Engineers scored a 12-foot jumper in the lane to seal a one-point, 78-77 victory. Lasell was led once again by Jose Guitian (Miami, FL) who had a game high 26 points and 10 rebounds. Charles Horton (Worcester, Mass.) went 5-7 from behind the 3 point arc, and totaling 17 points in the game, and Brad Caravoulias (Dracut, Mass.) finished with 12 points.
The lead changed 11 times throughout the course of the game, culminating in a Lasell advantage of 77-76 after Guitian hit a pair of free throws with 59 seconds remaining. With just thirteen seconds on the clock, a defensive rebound by WPI off a missed Lasell jumper led to the transition that resulted in the game-winning jump shot for WPI.
The Lasers are now 2-2 this season as they head into a game at Amherst College, tonight, at 7:00 p.m. The Lord Jeff's are ranked 10th in the country as of today's National Division III poll.
