Lindsay DeStefano Named Head Softball Coach

Newton, MA--Lasell College is pleased to announce the hiring of Lindsay DeStefano as the new head coach for the Lasell College Softball program.  DeStefano comes to Lasell after two years as the head coach for Massachusetts Maritime Academy and an impressive career at GNAC rival Emerson College.  

A 2008 Cum Laude graduate of Emerson College with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, DeStefano was both the Lions’ captain and team MVP as a senior and was a three-time all-Great Northeast Athletic Conference, National Fast Pitch Coaches Association All-Regional and New England Softball Coaches Association all-star selection.  Lindsay also excelled in the classroom as a three-time CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District and GNAC All-Academic Team honoree, and additionally she was named as an ECAC Division III New England All-Star following her junior campaign.

A two-sport standout at Emerson, DeStefano also shined on the basketball court for the Lions and served as a four-year member of the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  A member of both the National Fast Pitches Coaches Association and the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators, Lindsay earned her master’s degree in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University in 2010.

In addition to her vast playing experience, DeStefano most recently served as the head coach for Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference member Massachusetts Maritime Academy from 2010-2012. Prior to her time at Mass Maritime, she was an assistant softball coach at Emmanuel College and also served as head coach of the Bay State Thunder AAU (18 under) squad out of Braintree, Mass. 

“Lindsay brings great enthusiasm and experience to Lasell as our new softball coach, and I’m excited for both for her and for our student-athletes,” says athletic director Kristy Walter of DeStefano’s appointment. 

The Lasers will open up the 2013 campaign during a southern spring trip in March and will complete a full 40 game schedule including 24 Great Northeast Athletic Conference games.
