Lasell Announces Reid and Vaillancourt as Inaugural Golf Coaches
Newton, MA- The Lasell University Department of Athletics has announced that effective immediately, Matthew Reid and Corey Vaillancourt will take over as the head coaches of the women's and men's golf programs, respectively, ahead of the inaugural 2026-27 season.
"As Lasell heads into its inaugural season for men's and women's golf, we are excited to have Matt and Corey leading their respective programs," said Assistant Vice President for Athletics Jamie Marcoux. "Both bring a strong commitment to building meaningful student-athlete relationships, along with a deep knowledge and passion for the game of golf that will help our student-athletes grow and enhance their skills on and off the course."
Taking the reins of the women's golf program is current Lasell women's basketball head coach Matthew Reid, who will extend his current role to lead the inaugural women's golf program. Reid brings a strong background in collegiate golf, competing for one season at Bryant University before continuing his career as a three-year varsity member at the University of Southern Maine.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Reid has given lessons over the years to players of various skill levels and abilities, helping golfers develop both their technical skills and confidence on the course.
Vaillancourt takes over the men's golf program with both collegiate playing experience and a strong background in golf instruction and development.
"I'm excited to share all the things that I've learned from my time playing college golf," said Vaillancourt. "The game of golf can be as easy or as hard as you make it. No two swings are the same, so figuring out what works for one player might not work for the next."
A graduate of Westfield State University, Vaillancourt earned his bachelor's degree in History and Secondary Education while graduating Cum Laude in 2019. During his time at Westfield State, he was a four-year member of the men's golf team, helping the Owls win the 2018 MASCAC Championship while earning MASCAC Scholar-Athlete honors in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Currently serving as a Program Coordinator with First Tee Massachusetts/MassGolf, Vaillancourt oversees curriculum development while coordinating volunteers and coaches prior to each season. His coaching focuses on all facets of golf development, including putting, chipping, pitching, full swing mechanics, and on-course management.
Lasell announced the addition of men's and women's golf earlier this year, with both programs set to begin competition during the 2026-27 academic year.
