Only a sophomore, Spencer Parker has already made his mark on the men’s volleyball program at Lasell as he enters his second season.
During his freshman year, Parker played in all 26 matches, seeing time in 72 total sets, and was the only first year student in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to earn First Team All-Conference honors. He finished the 2010 season with 228 total kills, averaging 2.17 kills per set, as well as 95 digs and 35 blocks. Parker finished the season ranked 4th in the GNAC and 50th in Division III in kills per set.
Parker was the GNAC Rookie of the Week three times in the 2010 season and was also honored at the MIT Invitational as an All-Tournament member.
This season, in just 10 matches, Parker has already put away 131 kills, picked up 49 digs, and notched 20 blocks. He is currently ranked 1st in the GNAC in hitting percentage (.346) and 4th in kills per set (3.54). Parker has recorded one double-double performance this season, against Newbury College (02/07/2011) with 14 kills and 10 digs, and set a new Lasell all-time record for kills in a match against SUNYIT with 22. Parker was also recognized this season on the All-Tournament team at the SUNYIT Invitational.

Why did you choose Lasell College?
I chose Lasell College because I knew a lot of people here and it fit well with Volleyball.
What’s your favorite memory as an athlete at Lasell?
First practice where I met a lot of guys that I knew I was going to become great friends with.
Do you have any superstitions before you go into a match?
Since my sophomore year in high school I always think of the same thing before starting a match if that counts.
What do you do in your free time away from athletics?
I like to hang out with friends, play video games and watch TV.
Do you plan on continuing to play or to coach after you finish your career at Lasell?
After Lasell I plan on continuing to play volleyball and possibly pursue playing beach doubles while coaching.
Who has been a great influence in your life?
My father and brother have been big influences in my life, also my high school football coaches.
What is a little known fact about you?
I am a huge ball hog in every sport I play.
Where do you hope to be after graduation?
I hope to be somewhere with a good job and living the dream.
