Missett has finished first for Lasell in every race this season, producing a personal season and career best of 20:45 at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College on October 2nd. That performance marked her first time breaking the 21-minute mark, taking 27 seconds off her previous record, and taking two minutes flat off her race time from the opening meet of the season. Missett’s outstanding time gave her a position in the top 50 of that race, finishing 48th overall.
Over the course of this season so far, Missett has had two top-ten races, two top-twenty five races, and two top-fifty races. She finished 6th in both the President’s Cup, which opened the 2010 campaign for the Lasers on August 28th, and at the Runnin’ Monks Invitational on October 9th. QUESTIONS:
Why did you choose Lasell College?
I really liked the location and it had majors I was interested in.
What’s your favorite memory as an athlete at Lasell?
Sophomore year at Rivier College when I led the race for the majority of the 3 miles. I ended up getting passed in the last few hundred meters and getting third place, but it was still an awesome experience and it sparked a more competitive side of myself.
Do you have any superstitions before you go into a race?
I wouldn't call it superstition, but I have a pretty set routine. I eat a banana with peanut butter for breakfast before we leave for the meet, and while we are on the bus I listen to "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes. And I always wear the same sports bra and a bandana.
What do you do in your free time away from athletics?
I like being with friends and going to concerts. I also like hiking, napping, eating, and doodling.
Do you plan on running or coaching after you finish your career at Lasell?
I am a runner for life. It's such a great sport because you can literally do it anywhere, by yourself or with other people, and all you need is a pair of sneakers. I haven't thought much about coaching, but I would love to help others get into running and spread enthusiasm and love for the sport.
Who has been a great influence in your life?
My parents have influenced me in every way possible. They've taught me great values and are always encouraging me. I try to be as good and genuine a person as they are.
What is a little known fact about you?
I love to do crossword puzzles.
Where do you hope to be after graduation?
I hope to be doing something I love. I can see myself working with kids, probably in some type of creative outlet.
