This week’s athlete spotlight will highlight Kristopher McCabe of the men’s cross country team.
McCabe is a senior captain who is competing in his final season with the Lasers in 2010. McCabe has had some top performances on the cross country team beginning with his first season in 2007. He ran his personal best at the NCAA Regional course, with a time of 28:20, marking 5:40 splits. Also during his freshman season, he had impressive showings at the Saints Invitational (29:59) and at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships (30:01).
During his second season, McCabe started the year with an 11th place finish at the Roger Williams University Invitational. At the Rivier Invitational, McCabe was the second Laser to complete the 8K course, ending the race with a time of 31:05. He ranked in the top 20 at the Monks Invitational (19th) with a final course time of 32:18 and recorded his season personal best at the GNAC Championships with a time of 30:35, and placing 22nd.
As a junior, McCabe once again shone at the NCAA Regionals, clocking a season personal best of 30:31.2 and finishing third for Lasell. Prior to that in the 2009 season, McCabe had a top 25 performance at the Rivier Invitational (25th), concluding the course with a time of 31:41 and a top 30 performance at the Runnin’ Monks Invitational (28th) finishing the meet in 31:46.
This year, the senior captain started off the season with a 10th place finish at the President’s Cup, ending the 5K with a time of 20:42.

My freshman season of cross country.

I always have to have a piece of gum at the start of the every race
What do you do in your free time away from athletics?
Chill with friends
Do you plan on continuing to run or to coach after you finish your career at Lasell?
I plan on continuing to run and I hope to eventually coach later on down the road
