Amanda Major
Amanda Major has had quite an impressive career on the womens volleyball team at Lasell College over the past four years. Not only is she the Lasell College womens volleyball all-time leader in digs, but she has been ranked nationally as one of the top 50 womens volleyball players in all of Division III in the NCAA for three of her four seasons in the digs per set statistical category.
Amanda Major has had quite an impressive career on the women's volleyball team at Lasell College over the past four years. Not only is she the Lasell College women's volleyball all-time leader in digs, but she has been ranked nationally as one of the top 50 women's volleyball players in all of Division III in the NCAA for three of her four seasons in the digs per set statistical category.
On the volleyball court, Amanda has picked up over 2,000 attacked balls, with a current career total of 2,308 digs. As a freshman, she was ranked 26th nationally, averaging 6.56 digs per game. During her sophomore season, she averaged 5.41 digs per set, and as a junior she was ranked 37th nationally, averaging 5.41 digs per set once again. Also as a junior, Amanda had three 30-plus dig performances in a match (Rhode Island College-35, Norwich-31, and Wentworth-30) and was selected to the All-Tournament team at the Western Connecticut Invitational.
As a senior, Amanda continues to make an impression, with 554 total digs this season, she is currently ranked 41st in the NCAA, averaging 5.46 per set. She has also had four 30-plus dig performances this season, against University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth (31), Newbury College (38), St. Joseph's College of Maine (43), and Mount Ida (30). In addition, she has collected 91 career aces, with a career average of .23 aces per set.
Amanda is the epitome of a true student-athlete as she focuses on her studies as much as she excels on the court. Amanda has been named to the conference All-Academic Team for the past three years and has been on the Dean's List every semester at Lasell. In addition, Amanda dedicates her time to community service programs such as Hub on Wheels, Cradles to Crayons, Hats for Hearts, as well as having worked in a soup kitchen. Amanda also serves as a women's volleyball co-captain for the second straight year.

Why did you choose Lasell College?
I chose Lasell for its fashion design program
What's your favorite memory as an athlete at Lasell?
I have a ton of memories that I consider my favorites. One of them was last year when we had a huge upset against Rhode Island College. Also, any memory that involves the girls on my team. We are all really great friends and they made my Lasell volleyball experience so memorable.
Do you have any superstitions before you go into a game?
Yes, I always have to wear two pairs of socks.
What do you do in your free time away from athletics?
I love to shop and I work out all the time. I train horses, swim, and love to hang out with my friends.
Do you plan on playing or coaching after you finish your career at Lasell?
I definitely plan of playing after Lasell. It just depends where I end up career wise.

Who has been a great influence in your life?
My mom has always been a huge influence. She's my number one fan and supports everything I do!
Where do you see yourself after graduation?
After graduation I hope to move to New York City and start a career there in the fashion design industry.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Starting my own clothing line or designing for a major label company.
