2008-2009 GNAC Women's Basketball All-Conference Awards Announced

Emmanuel junior guard Iman Davis was selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season in a vote by the conference coaches. Davis has been honored four times this season as the GNAC Player of the week and one time ECAC Player of the Week. She leads the conference in points per game (19.0), second in steals (2.8), fourth in assist/turnover ratio (1.3), fifth in assists (4.0), eighth in field goal percentage (.480), and first for the Saints in rebounds per game (6.9).

Davis' teammate sophomore Kristin LeBel also received first-team all-conference honors. LeBel leads the conference in three point field goal percentage (.431), third in points (16.6) and free throw percentage (.813), fifth in three pointers made per game (2.4), and third for the Saints in steals per game (2.1).

Emerson's first-year center Lauren Zaniboni was named to the first-team all-conference, while also being selected as the 2009 GNAC Rookie of the Year. Zaniboni was selected four times this season as the GNAC Rookie of the Week. She leads the Lions in scoring (14.0), rebounds (10.5), and field goal percentage (.561), while averaging just 25 minutes per game. She is ranked first in the conference for field goal percentage, forth in rebounds, and seventh in blocked shots (1.2).

Johnson & Wales junior forward Alexia Ramirez has been selected to the first-team all-conference for the second consecutive year. Rameriz earned GNAC Player of the Week on February 8th. She is the team-leader in nearly every category, averaging a double-double with 14.0 points, 10.6 rebounds per game. She is currently ranked third in the conference in rebounding, second in blocked shots per game (2.5), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.339), and ninth in three-pointers made per game with 1.7.

Simmons junior forward Stephanie Fox was also named to the first-team all-conference. Fox leads the Sharks in scoring (16.1), rebounding (8.5), and free throw percentage (.846). She leads the conference in free throw percentage, forth in blocked shots (1.7), fifth in field goal percentage (.495), sixth for points, and seventh in rebounds. Fox has posted double-doubles in 11 of 12 conference games.

Emerson senior guard Maude Okrah was selected as the 2009 GNAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Okrah averages 10.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, and 2.2 steals per game, while consistently guarding the Lions opponents best offensive player.

Emerson second-year head coach Bill Gould was named the 2009 GNAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.
