Newport, RI—Lasell's women's volleyball team was upended by non-conference opponents Salve Regina University on Thursday evening, 3-1, at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Salve's win protected their perfect record at home this season, moving to 6-11 overall, while Lasell continue on a three-game skid, falling to a 7-11 slate.
Lasell dropped the first two games, though keeping the Seahawks in reach with close scores of 25-21 and 25-18. The Lasers rallied back for a 25-22 win in the third set before ending the match with a 25-17 loss.
Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) paced the Lasers with 14 kills, while hitting a .211 clip and adding two individual blocks. Freshman Taylor Riley (Greencastle, PA) racked up 11 kills while also chipping up five digs.
Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) came up with her third double-double of the season, making 32 assists and adding 14 digs. Sarah Eisenberg (Westfield, MA) led the team in digs with 19 as the Lasers libero. Defensive specialists Jenna Lynn Geary (Marion, MA) and Megan Gobeille (Lincoln, RI) matched with nine digs each.
The Lasers will travel to the Union College Invitational this weekend to play four matches. The Lasers will open up with the hosts of the tournament on Friday night at 4:00 p.m., followed by Oneonta State at 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, Lasell will open up with play against Skidmore College at 10:00 a.m. and will end the tournament facing Potsdam State at 2:00 p.m.
